Originally the home to the Edwards family. The Edwards family (then known as the Passmore Edwards) came from Devon and migrated through St. Helier in Jersey to Australia in 1856.
They arrived with seven children and were some of the very few immigrants that could read and write at the time.
This was considered in very high standing in those times. The two brothers. Don Laurence and Ormond Edwards, were later born in Australia.

The sedan was bought out from America with general MacArthur after the Second World War, it was a gift for the commander of the Australian Air Force. It was later converted to right hand drive and was his chauffeur driven car.
The limousine is completely original and was commissioned by the South African Government. It was the official car used by the Embassy to drive sheiks, diplomats, politicians and royalty.
It is also the same model as used in the movie "Driving Miss Daisy".

The house was built in 1912, and is one of a set of two houses built by Mr. Laurence Don Edwards, now a respected master builder. Fond of the fact that Melbourne can experience the four seasons in one day, and of Italian Culture, he named the homes Lugano and Como, after the Lakes of Lugano and Como, on the border of Switzerland and Italy. Like the lakes were mirror images so too are Lugano and Como both reverse of each other.
The master bedrooms were decorated with the Four Seasons in the Wunderlich pressed-metal ceilings. The views from their respective bay windows were and still are something to behold, they were later to be known as the Four Seasons rooms where they would retire to at the end of each day and listen to Vivaldi's Recordings.
When the houses were completed the two brothers then sent word to England and awaited their respective brides.
The house was renamed Mandalay in 1961 and has been receiving brides ever since. The house next door to this day is still a private residence. Mandalay has been established since 1961. The name "Mandalay" comes from the great love story "Rebecca" and the grand mansion (Mandalay) to which the heroine arrives. On your wedding day we at Mandalay aim to make the bride the "Lady of the Mansion". An open fire is a welcoming sight during the winter blues, an excellent backdrop to many good times to be had in our Sherries room. The charm and elegant befits any occasion requiring prestige and quality in every detail.
